A brace is a hand tool used with a drill bit or auger. Pressure is applied to the top and the tool is rotated with a U-shaped grip that is a kind of crank. Compared with other hand drills and some powered drills a brace can provide much greater torque. The price of the greater torque is lower rotational speed; it is easy for a geared hand drill to achieve a rotational speed of several hundred revolutions per minute, but it requires considerable effort to achieve even 100 rpm with a brace. The Old Tool Store stock a range of used braces. Some of our stock have wooden heads and sweep handles while others are made from plastic. All of our second hand braces are checked before dispatch and are fully working. As with the nature of old tools our braces occasionally have cosmetic imperfections such as scuffs, light rust or ware to the finish. Sizes can also vary, so if you require an extra large brace please contact us via the details below. Due to the nature and turnaround of used stock we cannot guarantee you will receive one of the braces pictured in this listing. Pictures therefore are representative only. If you have any concerns we recommend you simply get in touch to be paired up with the right brace for your needs. Contact The Old Tool Store: Email: ray@oldtools.idps.co.uk Phone: 01507 525 697
